A British man has been charged with assaulting a fellow passenger and staff contributors all over a flight from London to Los Angeles which had to be diverted to Utah.
William Hayes, 39, used to be arrested after the Virgin Atlantic airplane landed in Salt Lake City on Tuesday.
He used to be charged with attack and interfering with the flight staff.
During the flight, he allegedly grabbed a passenger seated in entrance of him by means of the throat and tried to hit and bite him, prompting the jet to be rerouted, US government stated.
Witnesses instructed government that after passengers and staff contributors restrained and handcuffed Hayes following the alleged attack, he tried to struggle with other people within sight and kick the airplane’s home windows, in accordance to the charging paperwork.
Hayes used to be taken to the Salt Lake County Jail and police stated the case used to be referred to the US Attorney’s Office.
The airplane then resumed its flight to LA.
Virgin stated in a observation that “the safety and wellbeing of our customers and crew is always our top priority and we don’t tolerate any behaviour that compromises this”.
“Our cabin crew are highly trained to deal with any individuals that may impact that experience for others,” a spokesperson stated.
