Akhtar Mengal, Chairman of the Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M), has expressed his dissatisfaction with the decision to select Senator Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar as the interim prime minister, causing strain between allied parties.
In a letter to Nawaz Sharif, the leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Mengal stated that the appointment of Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar by the outgoing coalition government has further distanced the PML-N and BNP-M.
Mengal accused the PML-N of disregarding the unconstitutional actions of former military ruler Pervez Musharraf and former army chief Qamar Javed Bajwa.
Mengal emphasized that making decisions without the support of allied parties will only deepen the mistrust between larger and smaller provinces.
He also expressed shock over the decision to rename the Gwadar airport after former prime minister Feroz Khan Noon, stating that many people in Balochistan may not even be familiar with his name.
Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar was officially named as Pakistan’s interim prime minister by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on Saturday.
It is worth mentioning that Shehbaz Sharif will receive a farewell guard of honor on August 14, while Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar will be sworn in as the interim prime minister on the same day.
